Where it all began

What started out as a normal night with a friend at dinner in Venice, CA turned in to a future I never expected. Just after ordering our food I started to feel dizzy, nauseous and confused. I have a history of headaches and anxiety so just thought I was maybe dehydrated and about to have a panick attack. Next thing I remember is waking up in the UCLA ER confused surrounded by my mom and dad. What had happened was I suffered a grand mal seizure outside of the restaurant and was rushed by ambulance to the ER. There, I had a Cat Scan and the Dr. determined there was a mass growing on the right side of my brain. The only words I could think to say was….what?!!! I needed a MRI done but was given the ok to go home rest a little and go to the hospital closest to my home the next morning. After my MRI I found out I did in fact have a brain tumor and it was a size that would need to be removed asap. I ended up staying in the hospital right after and was monitored a few days and then went in for the craniotomy. The surgery was 6 hours and the post op pain was excruciating. I stayed in ICU 2 days and then recovered back in my original room for another 2 days until I was released to go home and recover. My stay at Torrance Memorial was a long 11 days but I felt lucky, loved and had hope for a healthy promising future.
